Summer painting tips from Painters and Decorators in Enfield
If you’re looking to paint your porch or railings this summer, here is some advice to get that smooth, glossy white finish.
Using and oil based primer is essential. Oil-based primer is better for areas that get a lot of touching and use, such as doors, windows and cabinets. However, water-based primers are fine for areas that get less use or contact, such as crown moldings. And a water-based paint can generally be used over an oil-based primer, but following manufacturer directions is the best course. In other words, read the can!
BM Enamel underbody is great to have, but not essential. It does make painting smoother, and is referred to water based primer which raise the wood grains and make it harder to sand in the long run.
You can brush or spray the porch or railings, this all depends on how much time you have on your hands!
